Buildgridbase began with a recurring observation in student-support work: capable applicants were often not confused about why they wanted to study, but about how a funder expected a household’s circumstances to be evidenced on paper. A missing reverse side, an outdated certification or an unexplained surname difference could leave an otherwise careful record difficult to read.
Our purpose is modest and practical—to provide an independent second reading before submission.
The people doing the reading
Reviews are led by documentation practitioners with experience in administrative record checking, student-support referrals and South African affidavit and certification conventions. Where a question belongs with a bursary provider, school, university, SARS, SASSA, Home Affairs, a bank or a commissioner of oaths, we say so rather than improvising an answer.
How we work
Minimum necessary records. We ask only for pages relevant to the agreed checklist and discourage applicants from placing ID numbers or financial details in ordinary email.
Exact observations. An audit note identifies the page and concern. It distinguishes a factual mismatch from a point that merely needs confirmation.
Applicant ownership. You decide how to correct and submit the set. We neither alter records nor speak as the applicant.
No promised award. Completeness is not eligibility, and eligibility is not selection. The funding body remains the sole decision-maker.
Our Sandton office serves scheduled consultations, while most audits are completed remotely for applicants elsewhere in South Africa.
